Start with the Gambling Commission licence
Before transferring money, check that the gambling business holds a British Gambling Commission licence. A licensed website should link to its current entry in the public register.
Match the legal operator, trading name, website domain and licensed activities shown on the room with the public register. A familiar brand name on its own is not enough.
Confirm the poker product and market details
A licence record establishes regulatory status, but it does not prove that every game, format, device or payment method is currently available. Check the room’s current product pages and terms for Great Britain before registering.
Treat missing information as unknown. Do not infer availability from another country’s edition, a language setting or an old promotion.
Read the terms before depositing
Review the terms for deposits, withdrawals, identity checks and any promotion you intend to use. The Gambling Commission advises checking important restrictions and making sure the licence details and domain match its public register.
PokerSignup records factual market evidence separately from commercial affiliate approval. A reviewed room profile is not a promise of a bonus, a recommendation to deposit or evidence of a partner relationship.
Use safer-gambling controls
Decide your time and spending limits before playing and never treat poker as income. Licensed online operators provide account-history and gambling-management tools; use them early rather than waiting for a loss to become a problem.
If you want to stop, the Gambling Commission lists free national self-exclusion schemes. GAMSTOP covers websites and apps operated by businesses licensed in Great Britain.
Get independent help
The Gambling Commission’s help directory lists confidential treatment and support services, including the National Gambling Helpline. Support is also available for family members and other people affected by someone else’s gambling.

A 60-second room check
- Open the Gambling Commission register and match the legal operator and exact domain.
- Confirm that the poker product, device and stakes you need are currently available.
- Compare rake or tournament fees before looking at a promotion.
- Read withdrawal, identity-check and promotion terms before depositing.
- Locate deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion and independent support.
Record the evidence
Write down the register entry, domain and date checked. Keep the relevant terms or a dated link when a fee, promotion or withdrawal rule affects your decision. This makes it possible to recheck a claim when a room changes its product or terms.
When not to choose the room
Do not proceed when the operator or domain does not match the register, important costs are unclear, the required product is unavailable, or the room's limits do not support the boundaries you have set. An unresolved fact is a reason to pause, not a reason to guess.
